USDA seeks opinions on AMS grant process
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is conducting a survey about grants awarded through its Agricultural Marketing Service.
The USDA’s AMS provides grants to growers and others in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry through a number of programs, including:
- Specialty Crop Block Grants;
- Specialty Crop Multi-State Program;
- Farmers Market and Local Food Promotions Program; and
- Federal State Marketing Improvement program.
The survey is in partnership with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Foundation and Grant Thornton, according to a news release.
It’s open to applicants, recipients and stakeholders of the grant programs, and is open through May 12.
“The goal of this collaboration is to identify performance measures that accurately reflect the work and accomplishments of grant recipients and improve AMS’s ability to report grant program impact,” according to the release. “The survey will collect stakeholder feedback about the relevance, achievability, and measurability of performance outcomes and indicators.”
Results will help develop performance measures to learn about the effects of the grants, and standardize measures across programs if possible, to decrease burdens on applicants and AMS staff, according to the release
