Fowler Farms donates SweeTango apples during pandemic

Fowler Farms, Wolcott, N.Y., is donating more than 100,000 SweeTango apples to people in need in the Northeast, a region severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As farmers, we are proud to be an essential part of the global economy. What better way to give back than to provide one of healthiest foods available to people who need it most?” Austin Fowler, vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.

Fowler Farms is sending bagged apples to Foodlink in Rochester, N.Y., and has partnered with Applewood Fresh Growers, Sparta, Mich., and Feeding America to help with distribution in Michigan.

“Fowler Farms and Foodlink have had a strong partnership for several years, and we’re so grateful that they have stepped up to donate fresh produce during these challenging times,” Terra Keller, Foodlink chief operating officer, said in the release. “We’re thrilled to pair bags of apples with Foodlink’s emergency food supply boxes to help nourish thousands of individuals and families who have been hard hit by this public health crisis.”
