DRC terminates garlic company's membership
The Fruit & Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corp. has terminated the membership of a Canadian garlic company for failure to pay an arbitration award.
Mississauga, Ontario-based Canada Garlic Inc. was ordered to pay $426,968 following arbitration, according to a news release from the Ottawa, Ontario-based DRC, a non-profit aimed at providing PACA-like protections to Canadian produce shippers.
The connected party in the ruling is Jiang Tao (John) Wang.
Despite being terminated, Canada Garlic is still obligated to settle disputes under DRC rules should another DRC member file a claim within nine months from when the claim arose or within nine months from when the claimant ought reasonably to have known about it, according to the release.
