USDA posts recording of seminar on direct payment program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has posted a recording of its May 14 web seminar for growers interested in applying for direct payments through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.
The recording is available on the Farmers.gov YouTube channel and will be posted later at farmers.gov/cfap, according to the agency.
In figuring direct payments, the USDA has said it will evaluate commodity-specific losses occurring during the January to April time frame for immediate assistance. In addition, the agency said near-term adjustment costs and supply disruptions over the next few months also will be evaluated to the extent possible for sectors where prices have declined significantly for additional assistance.
CFAP is available to farmers regardless of size and market outlet, if they suffered an eligible loss, according to the agency. Payments will only cover a portion of the losses suffered by growers, according to the USDA.
