Mission sends first shipment of Peruvian avocados to South Korea
Mission Produce Inc., Oxnard, Calif., has shipped Peruvian hass avocados to South Korea for the first time.
Phytosanitary protocols for importing were recently established by South Korea, according to a Mission Produce news release.
The avocados were packed at Mission’s facility in Peru and are in transit; the shipment is expected to arrive at South Korea’s Port of Busan in mid-June. With Mission Produce’s supply network, including Mexico and California, the company can ship to South Korea throughout the year, according to the release.
“This was a collective effort that was in process for many years and we are excited to provide South Koreans a consistent supply of healthy and delicious Peruvian hass avocados for years to come,” Thomas Padilla, senior director of export sales, said in the release.
