M&T Farms becomes A&M Farms
Aries and Megan Haygood bought the farm, but in the best possible sense of the phrase.
In 2019, the couple bought M&T Farms, which had been operating for more than 30 years in Lyons, Ga.
They re-named it A&M Farms after their first names, taking over about 350 acres of Vidalia onions and managing about 1,200 acres of other crops, such as corn and soybeans.
“We’re looking into getting into more leafy greens,” said Aries Haygood, who is also president of the Georiga Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and chairman of the Vidalia Onion Committee.
“Keep supporting the local U.S. farmers, that’s for sure. Know where it’s grown.”
