Church Brothers Farms introduces Tuscan Tender Leaves
Church Brothers Farms, Salinas, Calif., is celebrating National Salad Month in May with the release of a new variety of salad greens called Tuscan Tender Leaves.
The blend of European-style lettuces was chosen for shape, color and taste, including oaks, tangos and lolarossa, according to a news release.
“We established this new mix after extensive reviews with multiple seed companies and seed trials," Rick Russo, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
Unlike baby lettuces, these leaves are grown to full maturity for sturdy structure and longer shelf life.
The crop is mechanically harvested and triple washed.
No bitter varieties are used, and it has more body, crunch and texture than baby leaves, according to the release.
“Our tests show that these particular leaves hold up to hot proteins and dressings, which significantly cuts back on kitchen prep time in banquet/catering applications, and gives any salad a fuller plate appearance,” Russo said in the release.
Church Brother Farms is shipping Tuscan Tender Leaves nationwide.
