Walmart exec joins indoor ag panel for web event

Victor Verlage, the senior director of agriculture strategy development for Walmart, is the latest panelist confirmed for a virtual panel on produce trends on indoor agriculture.

The panel, at 4 p.m. Eastern June 3, is titled “United Fresh Produce Association Panel: Produce Trends & Business Opportunities for Indoor Growers Emerging from COVID-19 Pandemic.”

United Fresh President and CEO Tom Stenzel is moderating the panel, according to a news release, with these other panelists:

  • Alex DiNovo, president and chief operating officer of DNO Produce; and
  • Paul Lightfoot, president and founder of BrightFarms.

Verlage joined Walmart in 2010 and spearheads the development of next generation produce and is responsible for securing the long-term food supply for Walmart’s growth demand plans, according to the release.

The panel is part of the Indoor Ag-Conversations series from Indoor Ag-Con LLC, which moved its May in-person event to online content due to the pandemic. The web seminars are free to industry members; registration is available online.

During the hour-long web seminar, the panelists will “explore unprecedented challenges and opportunities industry member face today,” according to the release. Attendees will also receive a sneak peek at United Fresh LIVE!, the association’s virtual conference that’s scheduled for June 15-19.
