Citriburst Finger Lime volume increasing

 Citriburst Finger Lime volume increasing

Shanley Farms, Morro Bay, Calif., is seeing success with selling its Citriburst brand finger limes directly to consumers, especially during the pandemic.

“We reach out and communicate on a regular basis with all the consumers that have been buying our Citriburst Finger Limes,” Megan Shanley Warren, who is in sales and marketing for Shanley Farms, said in a news release. “We call them our Citriburst Champions and we intend to share their passion with our retail and foodservice partners.”

She credits the wave of popularity during the pandemic for the finger limes’ high vitamin C content.

The company advises retailers to cross merchandise the finger limes, such as in the seafood department, and highlight their versatility, for use in sauces, smoothies, main courses, desserts and drinks.

Production is ramping up at the Shanley Farms’ groves in Visalia and Morro Bay, Calif.

Owner Jim Shanley first heard of finger limes in the early 2000s at a citrus exhibition hosted by University of California-Riverside researchers. The fruit originated in Australia, according to the release.

The company grows and markets the finger limes and pearls, Morro Bay Avocados and Gator Egg Avocados brands, passion fruit and other specialty items.

The family operation uses the layered agriculture farming technique, according to the release, which pairs symbiotic crops, according to the release.
