$3.7 million of meth in produce load stopped in Texas

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently found $3.7 million worth of suspected methamphetamine in a trailer load of fresh produce crossing into the U.S. at Pharr, Texas.

The July 6 seizure at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility occurred when an officer referred the trailer with the commercial load of produce for a secondary inspection, according to a news release.

Officers discovered 22 packages of the drug, weighing 158 pounds, “concealed within the trailer,” according to the release. The Customs and Border Protection did not identify what produce was in the shipment.

The trailer was seized by the agency.
