Frieda’s shipping Hatch chiles in 2-pound pouches,  bulk

Hatch chiles are back, and Frieda’s Specialty Produce, Los Alamitos, Calif., will have its certified authentic Hatch chile peppers available at retailers.

While many retailers have dialed back their annual Hatch roasting events because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still ways to draw consumer interest to the peppers.

“We recommend you feature (point-of-sale) and stanchion signs to inform shoppers about the limited-time availability of the peppers, as well as how easy it is to roast them at home,” Alex Berkley, director of sales at Frieda’s, said in a news release. “We also suggest integrating Hatch peppers into grab-and-go foods like Hatch enchiladas and Hatch mac and cheese to drive hatch excitement in other parts of the store.”

Frieda’s offers the Hatch chiles in a branded 25-pound case and in 2-pound retail pouches, in mild, medium and hot heat levels.
