Fyffes fights hunger for Banana Lovers Day

European fresh produce exporter-distributor Fyffes is partnering with Feeding America — Eastern Wisconsin to combat hunger on National Banana Lovers Day.

Fyffes, Europe’s top banana supplier, is launching a social media campaign to encourage online audiences to share how bananas play a role in their everyday lives, according to a news release. The campaign will run from Aug. 16-27, and participants can post videos, photos, recipes and stories using the #BananaLoversDay and #FightHungerWithFyffes on any social media platform.

The company will donate 20 pounds of bananas to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for every banana post, according to the release. Fyffes’ goal is to donate 5,000 pounds of bananas to fight hunger.

“The Fight Hunger with Fyffes campaign strives to help local communities on a very personal level and this is one we hope people across the country will engage with and support,” Marion Tabard, vice president of marketing, said in the release. “The ability to provide aid to families facing hunger across America ... is at the forefront of our values at Fyffes, and we welcome this partnership with one of the most trusted charities in the country.”
