Washington Conference to spotlight industry needs

(United Fresh Produce Association)

Registration is open for the United Fresh Produce Association’s virtual Washington Conference.

The Sept. 21-25 event will be presented on the United Fresh LIVE! 365 platform, according to a news release.

More than 30 Congressional meetings have been arranged so far, and the event will include an “election night” party, concluding with a vote by attendees to forecast November’s election results.

With the efforts of United Fresh and others, federal programs have delivered more than $5.5 billion to the produce industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the release. The conference will highlight additional areas where help is needed.

The Washington Conference will spotlight legislation that would address the estimated outstanding $10 billion in debts for food delivered, but not paid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, United Fresh is advocating for an increase in Women, Infants and Children fruit and vegetable benefits.

More information about the Washington Conference is available on the United Fresh website
