The California Strawberry Commission, Watsonville, has released a series of training videos to remind agriculture workers of steps to take to remain safe in fields and at home.

The videos are in English, Spanish and Mixtec (indigenous people/language of southern Mexico). They stress the three most important practices to avoid infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other medical/public health experts:

  • Watch Your Distance/Mantenga su distancia.
  • Wear a Face Covering/Mascarillas puestas.
  • Wash Your Hands/Manos Limpias

"People are more likely to turn lessons into habits when they are presented with simple, easy to remember messages, and these videos do exactly that with the three W’s in English, and the three M’s in Spanish and Mixtec," Carolyn O’Donnell, communications director for the strawberry commission, said in the release.

The Commission also has a new video featuring Peter and John Navarro, second-generation berry growers from Watsonville, talking about how farmers are taking measures to protect workers on the ranch, in English and Spanish.
