Chicago-based Varcode, which makes digital, time- and temperature-sensitive supply chain solutions, has appointed an advisory board of food safety specialists.

They will help guide the company’s long-term growing in the food, beverage and food delivery segments, according to a news release.

The advisory board members are:

  • David Farcy, chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine and director of emergency Medicine Critical Care at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla.;
  • Ben Chapman, professor and food safety extension specialist at North Carolina State University; and
  • Domenic Veneziano, former director of the Division of Import Operations and Policy for the Food and Drug Administration.

“The combined expertise of these renowned specialists will be of tremendous value as we continue working to create a smarter, safer and more sustainable global supply chain for food and pharmaceuticals,” Joseph Battoe, CEO of Varcode, said in the release.

Varcode uses digital “smart barcode” tags that dynamically change based on customized time and temperature parameters, according to the release.
