USDA sanctions Hunter Bros. for PACA violations
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions through the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act on Hunter Bros. Inc., Philadelphia.
The company failed to pay $1.26 million to 26 sellers from May 2017 to September 2019, according to a news release.
Sanctions include barring the company and its principal operators from engaging in PACA-licensed businesses. Hunter Bros. may not operate in the produce industry until Aug. 8, 2022, and only then if it applies for and receives a new PACA license.
Frank Wiechec III, cannot be employed by or affiliated with a PACA-licensed business until August 28, 2021, and only then if the USDA approves a surety bond.
