EPC’s tailgate event canceled, apple-picking scheduled as planned

The Eastern Produce Council, New Providence, N.J., is canceling its annual tailgate event at MetLife Stadium.

“Due to guidance around COVID-19 and our interest in the safety of our membership, our September 29th Tailgate Event, sponsored by Idaho Potato Commission and Litehouse, has been canceled,” EPC executive director Susan McAleavey Sarlund said in a member e-newsletter.

Outdoor events continue as planned, with safety measures in place.

The 45th annual Sal Zacchia, Phil LaRocca and Pete Piastra Memorial Golf Outing was Sept. 12 at Fox Hollow Golf Club, Branchburg, N.J.

The 6th annual Joe DeLorenzo Family Apple Picking Event is scheduled for Oct. 3, at Melick’s Cider Mill & Orchard, Oldwick, N.J., according to the association. Members’ families are invited to come along and enjoy apple picking, a hayride and more.
