The Fresh Produce & Floral Council’s annual City of Hope Luncheon recognized the industry’s effort in raising $300,000 for the City of Hope National Medical Center.
The clinical research center, hospital and medical school, Duarte, Calif., is recognizedby the FPFC each year for its cancer programs. This is the 44th year the industry has partnered with the hospital, through the Produce and Floral Division of the City of Hope Food Industries Circle. The luncheon was Aug. 9 in Cerritos, Calif.
Brad Martin, president of Perimeter Sales & Merchandising, received the City of Hope’s Spirit of Life Award, to recognize his support of the industry and the City of Hope.
A case rebate program generates most of the annual contribution, but individual/company donations and a raffle during the luncheon also boosted the proceeds to $300,000, according to a news release.
