SunWest gets spooky with Peach-O-Ween, Mand-O-Ween program

SunWest Fruit Co., Parlier, Calif., is all treats and no tricks for Halloween, with branded yellow peaches — Peach-O-Ween — and mandarins — Mand-O-Ween.

The late-season peaches in the promotion are the Last Flame variety, and the California mandarins are the Miho Wase variety, according to a news release.

“We are excited to be able to launch our new branded program that highlights the beginning of the fall season and brings the colorful and spooky fun of the Halloween holiday to your produce department,” Gino DiBuduo, sales director, said in the release.

The peaches will be packed in single-layer euro cartons for bulk displays and 2-pound graphic pouch bags. They’re currently available and will ship through mid- to late November. The mandarins will be available mid-October through early November, in 2-, 3- and 5-pound bags, as well as bulk.

DiBuduo said offering the Peach-O-Ween and Mand-O-Ween fruit in bags and bulk gives retailers options.

“Some traditional retailers are able to build attractive displays with our high-graphic cartons while still marketing the traditional bulk format and utilizing the theme with our oversized (price look-up) stickers,” he said in the release. “While others can use the high graphic bags to supplement their department with an additional peach offering and can drive incremental sales and/or cross merchandise.”

The Mand-O-Ween program overlaps with Halloween, which made the Miho Wase early-season

The Miho Wase is one of the first California mandarins of the season, making it ideal for the Mand-O-Ween program, DiBuduo said.
