Fred Webber to retire from DRC

Fred Webber, the president and CEO of Canada’s Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corp. since 2011, plans to retire from the position at the end of the year.

Luc Mougeot will succeed Webber on Jan. 1, according to a news release from the DRC. Webber plans to remain as a senior advisor until June, according to a news release.

Webber was a mediator for the organization and then vice president before succeeding Stephen Whitney in 2011.

Mougeot has been a vice president at the DRC since 2011. Before that, he was a senior advisor for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

During the recent board meeting in which the change was announced, chairman Glenn Baty and the board praised Webber’s 20 year of service to the DRC, and 35 years of service in the produce industry, in Canada and the U.S.

The board will launch an “open competitive process” to appoint a new vice president early next year, according to the release.
