CPMA offers waste reduction tool

(CPMA)

A new waste reduction tool is available to members of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association.

The online resource, the CPMA Waste Efficiency Tool (https://efficiency.cpma.ca/), provides members with ways to generate high returns on investment by addressing waste and recurring procedural problems in an organized way, according to news release.

With an earlier version released in January, the tool already has been used by produce firms to create savings, according to the release.

Changes to streamline the tool include:

  • Revitalized interface and simplified user experience;
  • Universal log-in, with CPMA Community credentials;
  • Improved flow and simplicity through all 14 steps; and
  • Easily accessible resource page for supporting documentation.

The tool applies techniques commonly used at the start of a continuous process improvement initiative, according to the release. The tool can address problems with food waste, equipment failure, lost production, energy, labor, packaging, transportation and more.

The CPMA Waste Efficiency Tool is exclusively available to CPMA members, according to the release.
