Bolthouse awards vehicles, cash to top performing employees

Bolthouse Farms, Bakersfield, Calif., celebrated its first anniversary as an independent company by giving employees vehicles and cash awards for going above and beyond their roles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Frontline essential employees live and breathe the company’s culture of People Powering Purpose, according to a news release.

On Sept. 25, dubbed People Powering Purpose Day, CEO Jeff Dunn and other executives recognized 20 employees who’ve been ranked as top performers. The employees, from five workgroups across the company, received one of five carrot-orange 2020 GMC Terrains or five sets of cash bonuses of $10,000, $7,500 and $5,000, according to the release.

Employees at Bolthouse Farms’ operations in Bakersfield, Hodgkins, Ill., and Prosser, Wash., were recognized.

“Over the last year we turned around our business and every single person working at the new Bolthouse Farms contributed to that big accomplishment,” Dunn said in the release. “Recognizing and celebrating our people is a key component of the culture here, where we put people first.”

Dunn referred to the 20 employees as “true heroes” who made a difference with commitment, leadership and performance.
Supervisors nominated 10 employees from each workgroup, and the Bolthouse Farms leadership team chose the recipients. More than 1,000 other employees received a $250 bonus.

“When I first heard of the program to recognize top performers with a vehicle or cash bonuses, I didn’t think it was true,” Oscar Garcia, who works the second shift in foodservice production and received a vehicle, said in the release. “Past leadership at Bolthouse Farms had made promises and didn’t keep them. The New Bolthouse Farms leadership team made a commitment to us, their employees, and kept it.”
