Unilever exec takes reins of Chilean fruit exporter Agricom

Hans Eben is the new CEO of Agricom Ltda., a Santiago, Chile-based wholly owned subsidiary of Westfalia Fruit Co.

Eben is the second CEO at Agricom, succeeding founder Rodrigo Barros, who led the company for four decades, according to a news release.

Eben’s career to date has been at Unilever, with the most recent position as country manager for Unilever in Chile. He has had the same title for Unilever in Peru, and was marketing director for the company for Latin America, among other roles.

At Agricom, he manages all aspects of its business in Chile, according to the release.

“Chile is a strategic region for Westfalia and we look forward to continuing to promote Chilean fruit and our growers through our global platforms,” Alk Brand, CEO of Westfalia Fruit, said in the release. “The skills that Hans brings are ideal for the execution of this vision.”

Agricom grows and exports a number of fruits, including grapes, avocados, citrus, apples and stone fruit. Export markets include the U.S.
