Sakata Seed goes online for California Field Days

While the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t cancel the Sakata Seed America’s California Field Days, it forced the company to severely limit attendance.

Sakata Seed has released videos of the California Field Days, shot at the Salinas and Woodland  research fields. In each one, varieties are displayed and their attributes are listed. The Salinas event featured broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and other vegetables, and the Woodland Field Day varieties included sweet and hot peppers, tomatoes and watermelons.

Another video focuses on all of Sakata Seeds’ lettuce varieties.

Matt Linder, senior product manager, said the Salinas event has showcased different vegetables since 1988. He said it’s a “living catalog” that allows growers to see how vegetables perform in Salinas fields.

Sakata Seed America has also released an interactive trial field book that lists the varieties and attributes.
