Mastronardi Produce, Kingsville, Ontario, is seeing high demand for Dreamberry, Pearberry and Lolliberry strawberries.

Grown through a partnership with BerryWorld, the strawberries are in the Wow berry line.

“My vision is to do exactly what we did in the tomato, pepper and cucumber world, and horizontally expand the berry market,” Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO, said in a news release. “I believe that consumers will search for these berries by name, much like when we introduced the world’s first branded tomato, Campari.”

The strawberries have distinct flavors, shapes and attributes:

  • Dreamberry: A classic strawberry taste with a balance of acidity and sweetness, with a bright red color;
  • Pearberry: A light pink strawberry with notes of pear and tart apple; and
  • Lolliberry: The sweetest of the trio, with low acidity and high sugars.

“I want to give consumers choices and give them the opportunity to purchase many different types of strawberries that each have totally different tastes and can please different palates,” Mastronardi said in the release.

The greenhouse strawberries, exclusive to Mastronardi Produce, are available through the winter.
