SmartWash Solutions, Salinas, Calif., is highlighting top-performing U.S. produce processors for 2021’s National Food Safety Month in September.

SmartWash, whose system is designed to improve food safety and mitigate wash line cross-contamination, is establishing the SmartWash Circle of Excellence recognize companies for food safety programs, according to a news release.

“We understand the emphasis our customers place on food safety, and wanted to develop a program that acknowledges and recognizes their commitment," Angela Nunez, vice president of technical support, said in the release. "Since we’re capturing data from each line every few seconds, we can calculate performance metrics and call further attention to food safety by recognizing plants that are performing exceptionally well."

SmartWash can be used on conventional and organic produce.

The Circle of Excellence criteria includes consistent material flow and control as monitored by the Automated SmartWash Analtytical Platform, according to the release.

"Produce plant employees work very hard to provide the world with fresh, top-quality produce, and teams at Circle of Excellence plants can take pride in knowing that when it comes to food safety, they are checking all the boxes," Steven Swarts, director of business development, said in the release.
