Jennifer McEntire receives NSF’s Food Safety Leadership Award

NSF International has named Jennifer McEntire as the Food Safety Leadership Award recipient.

McEntire, senior vice president of food safety and technology for the United Fresh Produce Association, has developed the association’s Produce Safety Immersion Program, which is accept applications for its second class.

“United Fresh has always been the industry resource for all things produce safety and the Produce Safety Immersion Program is yet another great tool for the industry,” McEntire said in a news release. “Nothing has given me more personal and professional satisfaction than watching Class One of the program grow their skills by learning from experts, and each other.”

Cheryl Enlow, vice president of quality assurance and food safety at Renaissance Food Group, said in the release the importance of food safety and changes in regulatory environment have created a need for ongoing professional development.

“Given the various paths my peers and I have taken to become produce safety professionals, I’m confident the Produce Safety Immersion program will help ensure a well-trained workforce is following in our footsteps,” Enlow, who is chairwoman of the United Fresh Food Safety & Technology Council, said in the release.

McEntire, who joined United Fresh in 2016, was included in The Packer 25 list of noted produce industry members in 2018.
