Brighter Bites mom shares how her cooking, eating habits changed
At the Brighter Bites booth at the Nov. 9-13 virtual West Coast Produce Expo, a short video featured a mom and her two children.
Laura Luley-Smith, a Brighter Bites parent, said the program adds a layer of community at her school, exposes children to fresh fruits and vegetables they aren’t familiar with and has changed the way she shops and cooks for her family.
“I buy spaghetti squash now. I would’ve never bought it if we didn’t (first) get it here,” Luley-Smith said.
The program brings produce and education to school children and their families in Houston, Dallas, Austin, New York City, the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and Southwest Florida — with more locations to come.
