USDA appoints National Watermelon Promotion Board members

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has appointed new members to the National Watermelon Promotion Board.
The nine new members will serve three-year terms starting Jan. 1.
The new members, according to a news release, are:

  • Kyler Bishop, Punta Gorda, Fla., District 1 grower;
  • Chad Chastain, Punta Gorda,, District 1 grower;
  • Stephen R. Nichols, Lakeland, Fla., District 1 handler;
  • Rob Gibson, Vero Beach, Fla., District 1 handler;
  • Matthew N. Tanner, Pompano Beach, importer;
  • Christopher M. Dyer, Mission, Texas, importer;
  • Christian Murillo, Nogales, Ariz., importer;
  • Jeff Fawcett, Edinburg, Texas, importer; and
  • Craig A. Stokes, San Antonio, public member.

There are 30 members of the National Watermelon Promotion Board, with 10 growers, 10 handlers, 9 importers and a public member.
