Dole Fresh Vegetables has added three salads to its FreshTakes Bowl Salads line.

The ready-to-eat salads feature on-trend flavors and are in proprietary packaging, according to a news release. Each include white-meat chicken and Dole’s own salad dressings. The suggested retail price is $3.99.

The new salads, which are available at retailers nationwide, are:

  • Chicken Club BLT: Iceberg and green leaf lettuce, uncured bacon pieces, grape tomatoes, whole-grain cheese garlic croutons and buttermilk ranch dressing;
  • Backyard BBQ: Iceberg and green leaf lettuce, red cabbage, fire-roasted corn, mild cheddar cheese, crispy onions, carrots and BBQ ranch dressing; and
  • Avocado Ranch: Iceberg and green leaf lettuce, red cabbage, black beans, Monterey jack and Colby cheese, tortilla strips, carrots and avocado ranch dressing.

Dole introduced the FreshTakes line nationwide in May after a successful 2019 trial in the Eastern U.S., according to the release. There are now nine salads in the line.

FreshTakes salad packaging features straight instead of curved sides to make it easier for consumers to mix the ingredients without spilling them. The bowls are clear to showcase the fresh ingredients, and include a full-size fork, according to the release

All nine FreshTakes salads are in the new packaging.

“Since the very first bowl salad, salad lovers have been challenged to mix together all the lettuces, toppings and dressings in the bowl provided without losing any of the good stuff,” Lisa Overman, director of brand marketing for North America, said in the release. “When Dole set out to create the world’s best (ready-to-eat) bowl salads, we knew we needed to concentrate not only on superior flavor varieties and ingredients, which are Dole hallmarks, but also on a better salad bowl design that results in a more rewarding salad eating experience.”
