Mushroom Council takes blended burgers to Sturgis

The Mushroom Council has identified a new audience for blended burgers — those attending the 77th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Burgers made from beef, portabella, shiitake and crimini mushrooms will be served Aug. 10 at a fundraiser for the Sturgis Museum and Hall of Fame, according to a news release. The burgers will be put together by Chicago chef Lance Avery.

“Can bikers be Blenditarians? Of course!” Bart Minor, president of the Mushroom Council, said in the release. “Whether a person is health-conscious, sustainability-minded, or just loves a good, juicy burger, The Blend knows no boundaries.

“The Blend already has been accepted by K-12, universities, influential chefs, fast casuals and small-town diners,” Minor said. “Sturgis literally is the next frontier for The Blend. We can’t wait to get rally-goers’ take on it.”
