Divine Flavor touts Persian cucumbers
Nogales, Ariz.-based Divine Flavor is excited about its Persian cucumber program, said Michael DuPuis, quality assurance and public relations coordinator.
“We’ve been doing it a couple years now, and were starting to notice that it’s kind of a trendy product,” he said.
“It’s an easy to prepare cucumber, and that’s what the customers and the consumers are looking for.”
Persian cucumbers fit in with the snacking products Divine Flavor carries, like sweet mini peppers and table grapes, DuPuis said.
“We really feel that with the Persian cucumbers are a good commodity for us because of the convenience and the flavor,” he added.
It’s a difficult product to grow, he said, but the company has hothouses in Culiacan and Ensenada, Mexico, that have had success with them in recent years.
