Farming for today and tomorrow

Farming for today and tomorrow

ACAMBuilding trust in food begins with empowering farmers through one of the largest and most diverse conservation- and sustainability-focused public-private partnerships in our nation’s history: America’s Conservation Ag Movement. From one year to the next, it is the source of all they hope to accomplish. The ground represents crop yields, income to pay off loans and seed money invest in the next season.

Land has a long-term significance to many. For some, it may be the piece of ground that was homesteaded by an immigrant pioneer ancestor 150 years before.

In all cases, the relationship of a grower to the land that he or she farms is powerful.

That connection and investment is taking on more and more meaning today. Preserving farm land for tomorrow in a time of weather challenges, volatile markets and regulatory pressures is not easy.

Consumer interest in preserving the environment, including farm land, is a well-established and permanent trend. It is also a reality that American producers can and should celebrate.

Building consumer trust in food is the goal of Farm Journal Foundation’s America’s Conservation Ag Movement, a diverse conservation- and sustainability-focused public-private partnership.

This movement builds on the long tradition of farmers as caretakers of tomorrow. We hope this publication illuminates the new ways that conservation and stewardship practices can lay the groundwork for ever-expanding consumer trust and a sustainable tomorrow for America’s growers.
