The United Fresh Produce Association has several upcoming web seminars on food safety.

The first seminar, from 2-3:30 p.m. Eastern, Jan. 12, focuses on strategies to manage food safety through disruption and crisis.

The seminar, part of the United re-Fresh Experience series, features:

  • Jennifer McEntire, senior vice president of food safety and technology at United Fresh;
  • Neil Checketts, vice president of food safety and quality for Mastronardi Produce;
  • Natalie Dyenson, vice president of food safety and quality for Dole Food Co.; and
  • Wendy Maduff, vice president of corporate food safety and quality for The Wonderful Co.

“Despite a global pandemic, unwavering attention to produce safety cannot take a break,” according to the United Fresh website. “While companies have had to adopt new practices and divert valuable time and resources to meet the COVID-19 challenges, food safety professionals must keep their focus equally on the business at hand. One crisis cannot lead to another.”

Registration is online.

On Jan. 27-28, the organization will present the Recall Ready Workshop.

“The United Fresh Recall Ready Program and Recall Ready Workshop are an exclusive group of education and training services that leverages the expertise of the food industry’s leading professionals,” according to the United Fresh website.

A third web seminar on Foreign Supplier Verification Programs will be Feb. 8-11. The course is hosted by United Fresh and developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance, with instructors from the alliance teaching the course.

“Learn to implement the requirements of the Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP), during this training, designed for U.S.‐based importers who meet the definition of ‘importer’ in the FSVP rule or others who have an interest in ensuring that the requirements of the FSVP rule are met,” according to United Fresh.
