Monaghan Mushrooms Ltd., Campbellville, Ontario, has recalled Belle Grove brand whole white button mushrooms over concerns of Clostridium botulinum, which causes botulism.

The mushrooms were distributed only in Ontario, according to the company’s notice on the Canadian Food Inspection’s website on Jan. 9.

There haven’t been any illnesses reported in connection with the recalled product.

In the notice, Monaghan Mushrooms reported the mushrooms “may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.”

The white button mushrooms are packed in 227-gram (8-ounce) containers with a Universal Product Code of 8 87462 00000 3 and “best before” date of Jan. 15.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation and verifying that products have been removed from the marketplace, according to the notice.
