Oppy hires Sila Louw in grower relations in South Africa

The Oppenheimer Group has hired Sila Louw in a grower relations position in South Africa, its first position on the continent.

Louw, who is based in Cape Town, has more than 10 years of experience in fresh produce, according to a news release. He has numerous roles in his background, from marketing, branding and commercial and stakeholder management for South African companies, according to the release.

Louw’s experience includes working with table grapes, avocados and citrus, and he has expertise in growing international operations, according to Oppy.

“As Oppy continues to expand its on-the-ground presence in key growing regions around the world, we are excited that Sila’s appointment will help solidify our reach in South Africa, where we already have a well-established history with key partners,” James Milne, Oppy’s senior vice president of categories and marketing, said in the release. “Sila’s invaluable local knowledge and expertise will add to the considerable value proposition that Oppy offers its customers.”

Louw will be instrumental in explaining the Oppy model to growers and active in product and market development opportunities throughout Africa, according to the release.
