Pero Family Farms Foods recalls fresh-cut butternut squash products
Pero Family Farms Food Co. LLC, Delray Beach, Fla., has recalled multiple butternut squash products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The company initiated the recall on Jan. 15 and a notice was posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s website on Jan. 19.
The products, sold under the Pero Family Farms label in 11 states, were distributed from Jan. 2-11 to wholesalers and retailers, according to the company.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the products as of the date of the recall.
Pero Family Farms issued the recall after a supplier, Race-West Co., reported a possible listeria contamination with the squash. Pero Family Farms Food Co. has temporarily stopped production of the butternut squash products during an investigation, according to the notice.
The recall includes 33 packages of Butternut Spirals, Butternut Cubes and Butternut Chunks in varying sizes and “best by” dates, which range from Jan. 13 to Jan. 22. For a full list, including “run numbers,” see the recall notice on the FDA website.
The products were distributed to Louisiana, Florida, Texas, New York, Maine, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, Alabama, Virginia and Missouri.
