Faith-based organizations celebrate role in USDA food box program

Since May, faith-based organizations have distributed more than 12 million food boxes to families in need through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program.

That accomplishment was highlighted at Jan. 13 virtual event featuring Ivanka Trump and Pastor Paula White-Cain, who have been senior advisors to President Trump, according to a news release,

The celebration, hosted by CityServe, thanked the faith-based community and Farmers to Families for efforts to feed Americans, according to the release. CityServe is a collaborative network of churches and community leaders connected to help those in need to live better lives, according to the release.

“I’ve been privileged to be able to see this great work done first hand and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support of CityServe and the faith-based community in helping feed the ‘last mile,’ which is the most challenging, most neglected, and most in need,” Ivanka Trump said at the virtual event.

USDA-approved food suppliers, according to the release, coordinate with CityServe to deliver food boxes to HUBs, a church or faith-based nonprofit with the capacity to be the distribution center of food boxes to local churches, according to the release.
