California pear seminar presents research
The California Statewide Pear Research Webinar features the latest research into pests, production methods and varieties.
The online event is Feb. 10-11; free registration for the seminar (with eight hours of programming) is online.
The web seminar replaces the two annual in-person events for the Sacramento Delta and North Coast pear districts. It will be recorded for viewing after the event, according to a news release.
The agenda includes:
- Information on codling moth trapping and brown marmorated stink bug monitoring;
- Updates on pesticide regulations;
- Information on treatments to control pear scab and fire blight; and
- A presentation from the University of California Fruit and Nut Research Information Center.
The event is a joint effort from the University of California Cooperative Extension, University of California Fruit and Nut Research and Information Center, Lake and Mendocino County Departments of Agriculture, and the California Pear Advisory Board and Pear Pest Management Research Fund.
