Danny Dumas, a long-time Del Monte Fresh Produce employee, has been hired by Canadian wholesaler Courchesne Larose to oversee its interests in the U.S. and abroad.

Dumas, most recently senior vice president of North American sales, marketing and product management for Del Monte Fresh, is president of Courchesne Larose USA. In the U.S., Group Courchesne Larose is a partner in Dandrea Produce, Vineland, N.J., and markets conventional and organic produce under the Green Earth Produce — The Organic Label brand, according to a news release.

Group Courchesne Larose also has investments in Central and South America.

Dumas, a native of Montreal, started his career with Dole Fresh Fruit Co. there in 1989 and was with Dole for nine years. He next spent 15 years with Del Monte International in various roles, including vice president of sales and operations — fresh. He was vice president of Del Monte Fresh Produce-Canada and for the last seven years he was with Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A.

Dumas resigned from Del Monte in May 2020 after 22 years with the company.

“We are very excited to welcome Danny to the Courchesne Larose family,” Michel Routhier, Courchesne Larose owner, said in the release. “He arrives with considerable experience and knowledge of the North American marketplace. We look forward to his contribution to our ongoing growth, as we pursue the diversification of both our supplier and customer bases.”

Dumas will have a seat on the Dandrea Produce board, and the Courchesne Larose family board in Canada, according to the release. He will be the next chairman of the United Fresh Produce Association.

“Being from Montreal, I have been a keen observer of Courchesne Larose’s growth and evolution over the past decades and I am extremely proud to join the Routhier family and their great team,” Dumas said in the release. “I am certain that my experience within our industry will help with the company’s future growth and the accomplishment of its goals.”
