Pure Green Farms begins production, distribution to retailers

South Bend, Ind.-based Pure Green Farms is now producing and distributing four new leafy green varieties to select Kroger stores, according to a news release.

The greens are grown in South Bend at an indoor farm, using advanced technology to seed, grow, harvest and pack their greens all hands-free, the release said.

“We’re excited for our products to be in stores and for consumers to finally be able to try our leafy greens,” Joe McGuire, CEO, of Pure Green Farms, said in the release. “We’ve got a great inaugural product line up and look forward to adding more in the future.”

The greens are grown with significantly less water than field-grown crops and never use any pesticides or herbicides, according to the release. The four varieties that are hitting shelves this week include Baby Spring Mix, Baby Green Leaf, Baby Red & Green Leaf, and Baby Romaine. The release said select Kroger stores in the Midwest will be the first to carry the greens with more retailers to follow in the coming months.
