Viva Tierra hires production manager

Mount Vernon, Wash.-based Viva Tierra Organic Inc. has hired Mike Brumley as production manager, giving him the title of Washington grower relations representative, said Addie Pobst, organic integrity and logistics coordinator.

Brumley, who had been with Selah, Wash.-based Monson Fruit Co. for five years, started with Viva Tierra June 22.

“He’s going to be working with our growers in the Washington and northern Oregon area, coordinating production, packing and all that sort of thing to keep the fruit flowing for us,” Pobst said. “If they’re having trouble, he can pull with them if they’re having any particular issues.”

Brumley’s responsibilities also include working with warehouses to make sure “the right fruit is going into the right packs,” and provide customers with products they need, as well as coordinating with salespeople to know what’s coming up and working with growers on what they can expect, as far as their returns and ways to better improve production and the marketability of their crops,” Pobst said.
