One Banana sees rising demand for organic bananas
Consumer demand for organic bananas has grown during the pandemic, said Robert Adams, president of One Banana, Coral Gables, Fla.
“We have seen a noticeable shift in demand for organics,” Adams said.
“We have also seen a shift in some international markets toward bagged fruit. This is in contrast to before the pandemic when the market was shifting away from packaging such as bags.”
One Banana, he said, sources sustainably grown bananas in Guatemala, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru.
Adams said One Banana is certified to third-party standards, including Rainforest Alliance, SCS and GlobalG.A.P.
“We publish an extensive sustainability report and scorecard each year to benchmark against the United Nation’s Development Goals,” he said.
“We truly believe that One Banana makes a difference with people and the environment.”
