MAS Melons & Grapes looks for expanded squash volume
For 2021, MAS Melons & Grapes, Rio Rico, Ariz., will continue with core items that include several varieties of table grapes, honeydew melons, seedless watermelons and mini watermelons, said Miguel Suarez, president.
“We are increasing our volumes on soft squashes like Italian, yellow and gray, as well on cucumbers and our hard squashes, mainly kabocha, butternut and spaghettis,” he said.
The company also is producing a new variety of melons it’s calling Orange Candy. Suarez said the variety has bright yellow skin with light orange flesh.
