Ocean Mist sponsoring Tour de Fresh

Ocean Mist Farms, Castroville, Calif., is sponsoring two employees riding in the July 25-27 Tour de Fresh.

Tour de Fresh is three-day cycling event starting in Pismo Beach, Calif., and finishing in Monterey, Calif., coinciding with the Produce Marketing Association’s annual Foodservice Conference. The event raises funds for the Salad Bars to Schools campaign.

John Pattullo, general manager at Boutonnet Farms, is riding in support of Colorado-based Boulder Valley School District, and Paul Scheid, general manager at Laguna Mist Farms, is biking to help Virginia-based Fairfax County Public Schools. The two have raised $1,725 of their $7,000 goal, according to a news release.

“It’s important to Ocean Mist Farms to provide nutritious meals for the younger generation because they are the ones who will help carry out our vision one day,” Diana McClean, director of marketing, said in the release.

All participants have raised $131,000 of the $150,000 event goal so far, according to the release.

Donations can be made at tourdefresh.com/riders.
