Divine Flavor Starts 15th Sonoran Table Grape Season
As we enter the 3rd week of May, Divine Flavor starts receiving its first shipments of grapes- officially kicking off of their Sonoran grape program for 2021. The company anticipates packing more than 5 million boxes this season out of Northern Mexico which is about a 25% increase from last year in 2020.
Leading the way is Divine Flavor’s VP of sales, Carlos Bon, who is gearing the company for their biggest commercial volume season since their company was established in 2006.
Assisting Carlos and company into this year’s grape deal are Divine Flavor veterans, Dennis Hay and Alan Morfin, sales managers, and Antonio Escobar, grape category manager. Joining the Divine Flavor sales team this season is a new member to the company, Mike Demattia, who was brought on earlier this year.
“We’re tremendously excited for this year’s grape program and I trust our team will be able to accommodate the needs of our retail partners”, said Carlos Bon.
“Each sales member of Divine Flavor is a direct extension of our customers who we sell to and they are able to take into account the complexity of retail- freight, freshness, and timeliness,” said Bon.
“By having the team we have today, this has allowed us to take on expansion opportunities and also provide better service to our customers. We are able to offer them more volume on specialty varieties and help them promote repeat purchases.”
Entering their 15th grape season, Divine Flavor grows and imports more than 25 commercial varieties including the fan favorites such as Cotton Candy, and newer varieties- Jellyberries, a seedless purple, and Gummyberries, a seedless red. Over the years, the company has become a major player in the category and their expansions have led them to be the largest grower of organic table grapes coming from Mexico.
