Egg Harbor City, N.J.-based Consalo Family Farms hired Miles Fraser-Jones as vice president of new business development and procurement. Fraser-Jones has more than 20 years of experience in global fruit procurement and operations management and will bring established partnerships from South Africa to Consalo Family Farms, said Chelsea Consalo, vice president of produce operations.

This hire will enhance the company’s new South African direct import citrus deal and significantly increase the volume of its citrus program. The company will offer retailers custom packaging options.

Also, Consalo Family Farms and The Fresh Wave, its distribution and shipping arm, opened a new cold storage and packing facility in Vineland, N.J.

“The location in southern New Jersey is really key because it allows us to make deliveries of fresh produce overnight to retailers anywhere on the East Coast in the U.S., and also directly to Canada,” Consalo said.
