John Famini accepted a promotion to director of sales at Orange, Calif.-based Interfresh Inc.’s Los Angeles distribution center, and the father and son team of Brian Murai and Bryce Murai also have joined the firm’s sales staff in Los Angeles.

“I am excited and proud to lead the team of seasoned produce sales professionals …” Famini said in a news release.

Brian Murai, a third generation farmer, brings 40 years of produce experience to Interfresh. He started working on the family farm as a young boy. His background includes growing, buying and sales, and his education includes a bachelor's degree in business economics from University of California - Santa Barbara, along with a U.S. Department of Agriculture grade standards certification.

Bryce Murai is the fourth generation of the family to make the produce industry his home and earned his bachelor's degree in agribusiness and food industry management from California State Polytechnic University in 2020. He is in his second year on the sales desk.

“Brian and Bryce are a great fit for Interfresh. They bring to our sales team a combination of generational depth of experience and new and fresh ways of solving the daily challenges of the produce industry," company president Chris Puentes said in the release. “They both have a great energy, and we are very pleased to have them on our team."

Bryce Murai said he's looking forward to building his career at Interfresh, and his father described what he likes about the company.

“Interfresh has a unique combination of old-school produce work ethic and new-school produce ingenuity, creativity and technology, along with a high level of honesty and integrity," he said in the release.

Now in its 35th year of providing fresh fruits and vegetables to retailers, wholesalers and foodservice distributors, Interfresh strives to provide top-quality products year-round.

In addition to tomatoes, citrus, berries, melons and avocados, Interfresh handles an extensive line of fresh products including corn, asparagus, pineapple, yams, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, grapes and soft fruit.
