USDA announces big fresh apple purchase
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a big fresh apple purchase.
The fresh apples purchased, according to a purchase award description, will be distributed to child nutrition programs and other domestic food assistance programs.
The fresh apples were purchased on an f.o.b. destination basis, with deliveries are to be made from Oct. 12 to Dec. 16 this year.
The purchase includes fuji, gala, granny smith, and red delicious varieties, with 27,200 cartons secured for a total price of nearly $612,000.
