Ocean Mist Farms increases artichoke awareness

Ocean Mist Farms sponsored the Artichoke Food & Wine Festival, which saw a 27% increase in attendance from last year.

The festival, in Castroville, Calif., June 3 and 4, featured a farmer’s market and agro art competition, field tours and food booths featuring artichokes.

Ocean Mist presented its academic scholarship, recognizing students who “demonstrate the company’s guiding values of integrity, quality, passion and success in their daily lives and in their pursuit of higher education,” according to a news release.

“This year’s recipients each received scholarship funds toward their college education, which supports our community education initiative,” Diana McClean, director of marketing for Ocean Mist, said in the release.

Proceeds from the festival support local programs, including Ag Against Hunger, community centers, school libraries and senior activity centers.

“Looking toward next year, we’re hopeful that more and more non-residents of Central California will continue to join us, as this event becomes a highlight of the year for artichoke enthusiasts all over the country,” McClean said in the release.
